In a world where technology is ever changing and growing, parents often feel like, “we can’t keep up.” Because of our lack of knowledge, some parents disengage and allow their children to make all the decisions about how to use technology. These parents don’t feel qualified and may not be aware of the dangers. I know nothing about guns, but if there was one in my house I would learn more about it and set some ground rules regarding its use.
It’s our job as parents to set boundaries and teach our kids to how use technology responsibly.
The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it”.
Establish Clear Boundaries
Give time limits for using the computer or other handheld devices.
Give clear expectations for cell phone use.
Create a charging station in parents bedroom where cell phone get turned it every night, at a set time.
Place computers in a central place like the living room, laptops can be used only with door open.
As a parent, you should have access to all devices at any time and know all passwords.
